I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.
Creativity follows it’s own rules”- Brian Herbert
You can approach the act of writing with nervousness, excitement, hopefulness, or even despair–the sense that you can never completely put on the page what’s in your mind and heart. You can come to the act with your fists clenched and your eyes narrowed, ready to kick ass and take down names. You can come to it because you want a girl to marry you or because you want to change the world. Come to it any way but lightly. Let me say it again: you must not come lightly to the blank page.
Anne Lamott, Bird By Bird
The takeaway: just write! If you must judge yourself, for now, do so based on how much you put down and not how good it is.

…shitty first drafts. All good writers write them. This is how they end up with good second drafts and terrific third drafts.
Come on, you can do this. Be short, be concise, be simple. Don’t overdo it because it’s not necessary. Say what you want plainly. Avoid the beautiful prose you’ve developed as your own. Don’t embellish, don’t elaborate, don’t try to make it more than it is. Just say it. Just write damn it.
